Guidelines for Ambassadors
Privileges and Responsibilities
Christians are ambassadors of their King! This sobering responsibility brings tremendous blessings and expectations from the world around us. If we claim to be committed followers of Jesus Christ, the world anticipates us to maintain a higher standard of conduct than the unsaved. In the best sermon ever given, Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5). It is this high standard of conduct that we expect from those who attend Effective Communication.
The commitment, dedication, and Godly conduct of Christian young people who wholeheartedly love God continue to earn them a hearing in many countries and open doors for ministry.
The below points have proven to be important for making the most of your time at Effective Communication—both in working with other students, and maximizing your training. Because these guidelines are so important, your agreement is necessary for acceptance to the course. By signing your name on your application, you are agreeing to abide by these guidelines.
• Authority: I will follow the direction and respect the authority of the leadership of the Envoy and Dallas Ministry Center staff.
• Modesty: I will dress in a way that is modest, glorifying to God, and in conformity with the dress guidelines laid out below
• Relationships: I will honor God in my friendships. I will maintain personal purity in thoughts, words, and actions and will avoid defrauding others. I will also avoid distractions from wholehearted service for the Lord by not using my time at the Effective Communication Course or post-course workshops to develop or pursue a romantic relationship with those around me.
Dress
Our appearance is an important aspect of being an effective communicator. With this in mind, students should dress in a modest, professional manner for the conference and should wear professional-looking dress clothes for all sessions. You may bring casual attire for possible outdoor activities (no denim, please).
Young Men: Dress slacks and shirts with conservative ties.
Young Ladies: Long skirts or dresses with no slits, and hose. Please avoid low necklines.
Commitment
In signing the application, I agree to abide by the guidelines above and by those given by Effective Communication and Dallas Ministry Center staff before and during the Effective Communication Course and Video Workshop. I understand that if I fail to abide by these guidelines, I may be sent home from the course and I will be responsible for all extra expenses incurred in my travel home.
